The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has approved the location and design of Project #0015823 for Henry County, a project that would reconstruct and widen Georgia 42 from CS 636/Bill Gardner Parkway to CS 645/Peeksville Road in the City of Locust Grove. A proposed additional 11-foot southbound lane will transition into the through lane from Cleveland Avenue south to the intersection of Georgia 42 and Peeksville Road; the existing southbound lane would transition into a left-turn drop lane at the intersection of Georgia 42 and Peeksville Road. The project also contains curb and gutter with five-foot sidewalks on the southbound side. The project is 0.40 miles in length. The design and location were approved on May 5.

The project is located entirely within the city limits of Locust Grove.
