The City of McDonough was recently ranked as one of Georgia’s safest cities in two national reports. McDonough placed as number 24 on The Safest Cities in Georgia 2020 survey by The National Council for Home Safety and Security (www.alarms.org/safest-cities-in-georgia) and as number 35 on the Georgia’s 50 Safest Cities for 2020 survey conducted by SafeWise (www.safewise.com/blog/safest-cities-georgia.org). Both ranking systems are based on statistics from the most current FBI Uniform Crime Report and population data; however, The National Council for Home Safety and Security also factors in their own internal research.
“Being recognized as one of the safest cities in Georgia is a great accomplishment,” said Preston Dorsey, City Administrator. “These rankings reflect the dedication that the Mayor and Council, along with our newly State-Certified Police Department, have in ensuring that the City of McDonough is a safe community in which to live, work, and play.”
