On April 30 representatives from the City of McDonough delivered breakfast, lunch, and dinner to the healthcare workers and staff at Westbury Health and Rehabilitation Center, located on Hampton Street in McDonough.
While many long term care facilities have experienced outbreaks of COVID-19, there has not been a single case at the Westbury in McDonough. Longtime volunteer, Soundra Willingham, commended Westbury for the numerous steps they have taken to ensure the safety of patients. Administrator Jackie Pittman credits the dedication and commitment of the Westbury employees for allowing the Center to remain free of COVID-19.
Councilmember Sandra Vincent, who initially proposed the idea of providing meals as a way to show appreciation for the healthcare workers and staff at Westbury stated, “In the midst of a seemingly impossible situation, we must remember to celebrate the successes. Westbury is a success story, and I am happy and proud to celebrate their great outcomes.”
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were each prepared by a different local restaurant and delivered by the City of McDonough Police Department. In total, 145 meals were provided to the hometown heroes who have been working so tirelessly to protect the wellbeing of the patients at Westbury.
