In an effort to preserve some of the history of our community, The Times is displaying photos of Henry County from the past. If you can tell us anything about the photo shown above, use this form. In the next edition, we’ll reveal the details of the picture and notes readers send us.

Bob Durden wrote, “this picture was taken from the bus station, across Macon Street and shows Mr. Pete Robinson’s Gulf station. The Gulf gas truck was probably driven by Mr. Ford or Mr. Upchurch. Also, that is where I hit second gear in my Oldsmobile. A lot of Tiger Paws melted into Macon St.” Larry Allgood wrote, “this is a view between the gas pumps at Billy Fields gas station and Greyhound Bus Station looking towards Pete Robinson’s gas station and wrecker service. This was back in the good old days of McDonough.” Sandra Petit wrote, “that was Robinson Tire and Appliance Co. just off the Square on Macon Street in McDonough. Pete and Roberta Robinson owned and ran the business. I have a photo of their family in front of the business in the 1950’s when my father, Joe Alexander, worked for them.” Thanks to everyone who wrote in!
