Stockbridge Councilman John Blount received the distinguished Certificate of Distinction Award from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute during the Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA) Cities United Summit in Atlanta. The Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute, a cooperative effort of GMA and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, provides a nationally recognized series of training opportunities for elected city officials.
To receive a Certificate of Distinction a city official must complete a minimum of 204 units of credit, including at least 72 hours from a required list of courses and the Robert E. Knox, Jr. Municipal Leadership Institute. The training program consists of a series of more than 60 courses. Councilman Blount was one of just 20 city officials from the state to receive the Certificate of Distinction at the summit.
“I am truly honored to obtain my Certificate of Distinction, ” said Stockbridge Councilman John Blount. “I am grateful for the opportunity to have represented Stockbridge at the recent summit. Representing Stockbridge means letting the world know just how amazing our citizens are. Our community is quite exceptional and my efforts put forth to obtain the Certificate of Distinction was to ensure that we continue to be trained at every level. I love serving the people of Stockbridge.”
