He has given us so many wonderful gifts, and just keeps giving. Of course I am blessed to have two wonderful churches in my life, Jackson Methodist and now Mt. Bethel. I wouldn’t know as much about the Bible without those two amazing blessings. I loved going to Bible school and Sunday school, and then, years later, teaching our children and youth.
I’ve had some wonderful careers too. I enjoyed working at Life of Georgia on West Peach-tree Street in Atlanta. The commute was fun and I learned a lot about Atlanta via those daily trips. I loved seeing all the wonderful Craftsman homes, and lots of other joys that we passed long before there was I-75. I enjoyed passing the drive-in theater, great seafood restaurants I’d visited over the years, and checking out the prison too. Later on I worked as a bank teller and after being robbed, I ventured into the mortgage business and found more wonderful blessings. There were appraisers who helped us find the real value of the homes, and cordial and professional attorneys and their staff who made the closings easy and pleasant. I made some forever friends as I helped them become homeowners.
But my favorite gifts of all are my wonderful children. I am very blessed to have four amazing dears that have added more to the family circle of love. I adore my daughters-in-law, son-in-law and the eight grandchildren (and one great-grandchild) they brought to the family too. I thank Him every day for each joy.
And … there’s another wonderful gift God delivered, not just to me, but to all of Henry County. I’m very blessed to have Piedmont Henry, which of course started out under another name. If we didn’t have that life-saving blessing, we wouldn’t have access to all the talented doctors and their staff. Thanks to those medical angels, so many lives have been saved in Henry County! Not only do they save lives, but having our hospital and doctors’ offices has helped our economy and also added more local jobs to this county. Neat that we have amazing EMTs, who make sure those harmed get the right treatment and healing. I’m glad they were available to take my ailing son to the ER for life-saving procedures. We were also fortunate to have a competent Atlanta Heart surgeon there with his expertise. He worked, as we prayed, along with our church family, for a helpful rescue, and we were blessed again. I was amazed that it went so well and Ron was moved from the ICU to a regular room the next day. With all of the ailing patients at hospitals, I was advised not to take Norman there so we stayed home and waited for the phone call that all was well. But, I couldn’t keep waiting to see my son’s smile, so the next day we took off to Piedmont Henry for a quick visit. The parking lot was almost full and no handicapped spots were available, but it was a warm, pleasant day and Norman preferred to wait in the car. I entered the hospital and made my way to the elevators. I got on one with a family and then punched the floor I wanted, which they’d already punched. We arrived on the correct floor, and they were walking behind me as I searched for Ron’s room. As I reached to open the door, they followed right behind me. Neat! They were some of his special friends coming to check on him too. We all visited, then I gave him a quick hug before heading back to the car to make sure Norman was still comfortable, and he was.
Two days later, and Ron is home and healing. I’m very thankful for all the prayers … more blessings and gifts from above!
