Georgia Council on Aging members spoke out in favor of several legislative issues – including a transportation bill – during Thursday’s GCOA 2020 Council Advocacy Day at the state Capitol. House Bill 511, which last year passed in the House but stalled in the Senate, would pull together resources to help rural Georgians with transportation needs, including seniors who no longer drive.
Affordable Senior Living housing options and improvements in Personal Care Home regulations are also legislative priorities for GCOA and the 1,000-plus member Coalition of Advocates for Georgia’s Elderly (CO-AGE).
