In accordance with House Bill 251 and Senate Bill 10, the Henry County Board of Education is now accepting school choice applications for the 2020-2021 school year and will do so until February 28.
Transfer request applications can be downloaded from the district’s website, henry.k12.ga.us. To be eligible for a transfer, a student must be a current resident of Henry County and his or her parent or legal guardian is required to assume all transportation costs to and from the new school for the duration of enrollment. Students applying and/or approved for transfer are expected to have regular and punctual attendance and to abide by all disciplinary rules at the school they attend.
A completed application must include proof of residency. Acceptable documents are listed on the website.
Completed applications with proof of residency can be hand-delivered or mailed to Henry County Schools, Family Services Department, 33 North Zack Hinton Parkway (Building B), McDonough, GA 30253. They can also be uploaded and submitted by email to schoolchoice@henry.k12.ga.us.
Applicants are permitted to indicate more than one choice on the transfer request form. According to district officials, in the event a particular school has available space and the number of transfer requests exceeds the remaining available capacity, transfer requests made pursuant to HB251 or SB10 will be reviewed and approved, or denied, on the basis of a lottery.
