The Stockbridge City Council has approved an $11.59 million proposed budget for the upcoming year. The vote was taken at the council’s December 9 regular meeting after its third reading.
Three new staff positions are in the proposed budget, which was created based on projected revenues and expenditures for the coming year. City manager Randy Knighton said that the city has seen a significant increase in the tax digest, with both residential growth and commercial growth.
The only citizen to speak during the public hearing asked if funds were included in the new budget for Cochran Park should the city take possession. That was not addressed.
The budget was approved unanimously.
In other business, the council approved contract extensions with Carter & Sloope, Falcon Design, Site Engineering, and Tunnell-Spangler-Walsh for their ongoing work on various city projects. Also approved were the 2020 holiday schedule, facilities use schedule and Municipal Court calendar.
The meeting agenda initiated included pending approval of an intergovernmental agreement with the city’s Public Facilities Authority for funding of the amphitheater. That item was removed from the agenda and the council scheduled a special called meeting about it for another date.
Discussion of towing and wrecker services resulted in the council tabling that item to be heard in January.
