In an effort to preserve some of the history of our community, The Times is displaying photos of Henry County from the past. If you can tell us anything about the photo shown above, use this form. In the next edition, we’ll reveal the details of the picture and notes readers send us.

Phil Donald wrote, “this building is at the old intersection of Hwy. 138 and Hwy. 42 in Stockbridge. In the early 60’s, it was Pop and E Lanes Place – gas and groceries. I worked there pumping gas in around 1963. (I was in high school – ‘Go Tornados!’) Later it was known as the Triangle. The original building had some additions sometime in the 1970’s, possibly.”

Elaine Davies wrote, “the picture is the Triangle Store owned by the Love boys.  Located at hwy. 138 and hwy. 42 south. Hwy. 42  used to bear off to the right going south with Hwy. 138 to the left. It may have been “Pops Place” once.” Mike Crotts identified the building and added, “over the years it has been occupied as a convenience store, a beer and wine store, and most recently a used tire store. At present the building is boarded up and is not being used.” Jerry Dobbs wrote, “the picture seems to be the old Love’s Package Store. They had a grocery on the left side and a package store on the right side.”Thanks to Danny Loggin, Renee Reagan, Raquel Thompson, Kim Stafford and Bill Melton for also correctly identifying the photo.
