Atlanta real estate firm, Jodeco 158, announced, on November 6, 2019, a $400 million mixed-use development called Bridges at Jodeco to be built on the largest tract of undeveloped land adjacent to I-75 in Henry County, just south of Atlanta.

Bridges at Jodeco will be visible from 1-75 as well as Jodeco Road. The master plan places the development in the land between Jodeco Road, Chambers Road, Mt. Olive Road and 1-75.

This development will include shopping, dining, and entertainment, as well as high-end housing for the anticipated increase in Henry County residents and employees.

“Our intention is to create an amenity-rich, live, work, shop, dine and play destination where people can engage and relax in a comforting, family-centered setting,” explains Jeff Grant, principal, Jodeco 158 and Henry County native. “We believe Bridges at Jodeco will offer choices and connections that will ignite the area, bridging Atlanta with what’s becoming known as Atlanta South.”

Initial plans for the 158-acre development includes space for 300 high-end apartments, 90 single-family attached townhomes and 176 single-family detached homes, which may also include senior living units.

More than 65 acres are set aside for retail, dining, and entertainment.

Developers are also hoping to incorporate a well-recognized brand hotel, a fitness facility, a theater, self-care studios and other trending service providers into the allocated land.

Green space is also included in the plan, with up to 20 acres that include paths, trails, water aesthetics and possible pocket, or mini, parks.

This development is described as being the first mixed-use facility of its kind south of Atlanta.

“This is a very exciting time for the City of Stockbridge,” said Stockbridge Mayor Anthony S. Ford. “The new development will be the start of something very memorable and unique. The City of Stockbridge and the surrounding area will have the opportunity to stand out with a progressive mixed-use project representing the best to offer for all community members. The future is bright, and we just can’t wait.”

As there is no debt on the property at this time, Grant says that the developers are not pressed to do something they do not wish to do and are not pressed for time to complete the project.

“We have put a lot of time and effort into [Bridges at Jodeco] and have received a lot of input from the city, county and residents,” said Grant. “We want to take the time to do this one right.”

Phase 1 construction of the residential buildings will begin in the fall of 2019 and are scheduled to be complete by fall of 2020.

Beginning in the Spring of 2020, Henry County should see more activity on the 158-acre plot of land.

Tentative planning places the Bridges at Jodeco project to be complete in about two or three years.
