A life sentence is what a McDonough man received after pleading guilty to killing his wife.
Davis Clay Chalfont, 29, was sentenced Oct. 23 by Henry County Superior Court Judge Trea Pipkin to life with the possibility of parole. Chalfont pled guilty to felony murder, aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
According to a report from the Henry County District Attorney’s Office, police found Amber Chalfont, 25, dead inside the couple’s home on Creekside Way in McDonough in September of last year. Davis Chalfant had physically assaulted the woman, inflicting blunt force trauma to her torso, then waited more than 13 hours before calling 911, according to officials. Investigators also found a history of domestic violence between the couple.
“This was a heinous case of domestic violence,” said District Attorney Darius Pattillo. “This woman suffered tremendous abuse from the man she loved and trusted. We are satisfied that this man will spend the rest of his life in prison for his actions.”
