The Andrew McBride Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution celebrated Constitution Week September 17-23. Constitution Week is observed for the foundation of the American form of government. In 1955, the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution petitioned Congress with a resolution for the observation week. The resolution was signed into law by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on August 2, 1956. Today, the week is used as a time to encourage study and educate the public about the Constitution.
Two Henry County cities, McDonough and Hampton, issued proclamations to commemorate this years’ observation.
