Spots are filling up quickly for those interested in a little Halloween fun in Locust Grove.
Locust Grove Main Street will host Groovin’ in the Graves October 5 at 7 p.m., at Claude Gray Park, 99 Frances Ward Drive.
The Halloween-themed occasion is this year’s installment of Groovin’ in the Grove, said Locust Grove Main Street Manager, Anna Ogg.
“We’re calling it Groovin’ in the Graves because of our Halloween
theme,” said Ogg. “We’re going to have our annual table-decorating contest, and we’ll have a costume contest.”
Ogg added that the location of Groovin’ in the Graves figures into the Halloween theme as well, as Claude Gray Park is adjacent to the Locust Grove Cemetery.
Groovin’ in the Graves is a fundraiser for Locust Grove Main Street Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization. Ogg said funds raised will go toward preserving, promoting and revitalizing the city’s historic downtown area.
“We usually expect about 200 people,” said Ogg. “We raise thousands to go toward our facade grant program and other beautification projects.”
Ogg expressed her gratitude for the occasion’s Gold sponsors, which include: Smith Welch Webb & White; Whaley Hammonds Tomasello; and Standard Properties.
