The fall season is poised for a festive start this weekend in Stockbridge.

BridgeFest 2019 is scheduled for Friday from 6-9 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m., to 9 p.m., on the lawn at City Hall, 4640 N. Henry Blvd.

Stockbridge Public Information Officer, Shana Thornton, said BridgeFest promises to feature a wide variety of attractions for local residents to enjoy.

The City of Stockbridge will host their annual BridgeFest event this Friday and Saturday. The festival will feature music, food, a car show and health fair.

“We’re offering something for every community member, regardless of their age or or generation,” said Thornton. “We are celebrating the fall season and the unity of our surrounding communities.”

Friday’s festivities will include a free Praise on the Lawn gospel concert with Isaac Caree, James Jackson, Atlanta Praise, Maxine Marks, Yvonne Johnson, Reginald Jordan and Reggie Boone. Local choirs and praise teams are also slated to perform.

Scheduled activities for Saturday include a free inaugural youth talent show from 10 a.m., until noon. Thornton said the talent show would enable young dancers, singers and instrumentalists to display their abilities.

Headliners the Sugar Hill Gang will be among the musical acts who will take the main stage Saturday for thousands of visitors at this year’s BridgeFest. Other scheduled attractions scheduled for Saturday  include a puppet show, live music, food, a health fair, and a car show, said Thornton.

“The car show is returning for the second year,” said Thornton. “We are inviting owners of old-school or new-school cars to display their cars during the car show. That kicks off Saturday at 1 p.m.”

Attendees on Saturday, Thornton added, will also have an opportunity to take part in Super Hero Lane with characters such as Superman, Batman, Supergirl and Spiderman.

Thornton said BridgeFest, now in its ninth year, has grown in popularity since its inception.

“We have seen a record crowd every year, and we’re expecting a great audience this year,” said Thornton. “All generations are encouraged to attend the multi-day community festival intended to highlight the unique charm of the City of Stockbridge, considered by many to be the gateway to Henry County.”
