Three at-large seats on the City Council are on the ballot in Hampton. Henry Byrd and Ann Tarpley are seeking re-election, while the other incumbent, Elton Brown, chose not to qualify.

Among the six challengers are two former council members: Mary Ann Mitcham and Marty Meeks. The other challengers are Sherry Ann Chaney, Adrian Stroud, Monica Davis and Dexter Cladd.

The top three vote-getters out of all eight candidates will win the seats.

Locust Grove is the only city with a race for mayor in 2019. That means four seats at City Hall are on the ballot.

Incumbent mayor Robert Price was the only qualifier in his race and will be unopposed. Two incumbents council members qualified to run again: Carlos Greer and Otis Hammock. The third incumbent, Vernon Ashe, did not qualify.

Challengers for the three open council seats include Michael Reid Brackett, Jr. as well as Rod Shearouse and Rudy Breedlove The top three out of the five candidates will be the winners, since all council seats are at-large.

McDonough is the only city in the county whose city council is divided into districts along with one at-large seat. All three incumbents have qualified to run for the right to retain their seats.

In District III, Craig Elrod seeks another term and is being challenged by Janice Scotch-man. The current District IV council member, Kamali Varner, faces Teresa Bradley Wheeler. The at-large seat is now held by Benjamin Pruett, and the challengers for that seat are Brandon Robinson and Carla L. Dennis.

In Stockbridge, all three incumbents qualified to run for re-election: Elton Alexander, John Blount and Neat Robinson. Each is seeking a second term on the council.

The challengers are Nathan Banks, Yolanda Barber, Jacqueline Blalock, Arthur Christian, Cherice Hollis and Kenneth McFarland. All Stockbridge council seats are at-large, so the top three vote-getters from this group will take office in January.
