Margaret Huckaby Hutchinson
Margaret Huckaby Hutchinson of Lake Spivey, Ga., passed away July 16, 2019. She was born in Pike County, Ga., in 1924 and lived there and in Thomaston, Ga., before moving to Atlanta in 1971. She married Jack Hutchinson in 1945 and they had two daughters. In Atlanta she worked for nearly 20 years at Ga. Tech in the Office of the Dean of Students. She “adopted” many Tech students and their parents, staying in touch for years. In retirement she learned watercolor painting and continued her devotion to gardening. She was preceded in death by husband Jack and by her brothers James Huckaby of Meansville, Ga., and Lamar Huckaby, Griffin.
She is survived by daughters Gloria Hutchinson Hughes (Wood) and Sue Hutchinson Goodman (Russ) of Stockbridge, Ga., and two grandsons Shaun Goodman (Tabitha) of Newport Beach, Calif., and Andy Goodman (Jessica) of Stockbridge, Ga., and seven great grandchildren. She is survived by sister Betty Ann Huckaby Cooper (Nathan) of Griffin, brothers Robert Huckaby, Meansville, Ga., and Donald Huckaby (Shirley) Adel, GA and many nieces and nephews.
Long ago she determined to give her body to Emory Medical School. A memorial service will be held later. Those wanting to remember her may choose to make a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
