The Henry County Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation recognizing the month of June as Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness month, bringing attention to the importance of research and support for debilitating and degenerative dementia disorders. The action came at the June 4 Commission meeting.
The proclamation read in part “With awareness comes hope and the Henry County Board of Commissioners recognizes the efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association to raise funds and promote awareness to fight Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia, thereby improving the quality of life for both patients and their caregivers…”
Prior to issuing the proclamation, Snapper Freeman, Walk Manager of the Alzheimer’s Association Georgia Chapter gave a presentation on the importance of care, support and research of the Alzheimer’s disease and also encouraged support from the Board and Henry County citizens to participate in this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s event in the fall.
Freeman said the walk is scheduled for September 21 at the Alexander Park located at 300 Atlanta St. in McDonough.
