The Henry County Fire Department will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at Station 16 located at 1575 Kelleytown Road in McDonough. The open house event is free and open to the community at large. The event serves to enhance the department’s involvement in the community and improve the overall safety and well-being of the citizens of Henry County.
The firefighters will open the doors to the public, welcoming everyone to take part in family-friendly activities, games, and food. The open house will highlight a number of activities including tours of the station, fire apparatus, tools, and equipment. Firefighters and Para-medics will have displays and activities emphasizing fire and life safety education for the whole family. Kids can also practice how to “Stop, Drop, and Roll” with the departments newest teaching aid, as well as visit with Sparky the Fire Dog.
Fire safety education is not just for schoolchildren. Teenagers, adults, and the senior citizens are also at risk in fires, making it important for every member of the community to understand how to stay safe in case of a fire.
