Red Oak United Methodist Church in Stockbridge celebrated the 150th anniversary of United Methodist Women on March 10. Stockbridge Mayor Anthony S. Ford, right, presented a proclamation to the church in honor of the national anniversary.
At left is the speaker for the day, the Rev. Dr. Delta Outley, pastor of Abundant Life Full Gospel Church in Columbus. Accepting the plaque on behalf of the church are Dr. Susan R. Dyer, second from left, president of Red Oak’s United Methodist Women’s unit, and the Rev. Belinda G. McCastle, Red Oak pastor. United Methodist Women is the laywomen’s missionary organization of the United Methodist Church and traces its beginning to March 23, 1869, when a group of women in Boston, Massachusetts, formally organized for missionary work.
