Free healing

I do a lot of praying, as I struggle through some of life. But, just when I think I’m getting a tad on the negative side, someone passes me a free healing. A couple of Sundays ago, a fellow Methodist handed me a neat daily devotional with the title Strength and Grace. It tells how to feel and to heal from any issues 24/7 caregiving may cause. Wonderful words and so I’ve added some more joy and education to my morning spiritual readings.  Thanks, God, and Sarah!

Then I found I was already receiving some daily medical assistance from another source. I took a quiz in an e-mail I received from AARP and the questions were all based on music and what it can do for the mind, the heart, the body, and the list goes on. Got most of the answers right but it encouraged me to do some more research. I went to the Publisher’s Clearing House search site, and entered ‘the benefits of listening to music.’ Lots of sites came up so I went to the one that listed ten good reasons you should listen to music. It turns out, it really does help the heart rate, calms the nerves, helps the brain keep learning and growing, slows down blood pressure, increases one’s physical strength, and the list just went on and on. I enjoyed reading those words, and as I read, in the background, I could hear WJGA playing their morning joy. They started off with some Elvis, and kept blending other oldies into the mix. Love the sound of Michael Buble, who reminds me of some of our fifties and sixties Broadway singers. Of course Elvis has a very comforting voice, as does Alan Jackson. So, all this time I’m not just being selfish as I listen and enjoy, I’m helping myself stay young and healthier too! Now I’ve bought lots of CDs over time, after cassettes went out of style, and even have a few 78 records plus some 45’s, but don’t listen to those of course. I do keep a collection of favorite CDs in my Camry, and slip in Alan Jackson’s “Precious Memories” as we pull out of the driveway on our way to Mt. Bethel for Sunday morning free healing. I have several CDs with a combo of my favorite singers that Norman put together for me over the years. I also have a neat CD that arrived in my mailbox before Christmas with the latest yule time joy recorded by a kind attorney. I enjoyed reading the letter that accompanied that joy and learning where some of the songs come from, and about the artists too. I do always put an extra toy in the Toys for Tots box to try to compensate for that annual free healing.

Glad to keep learning about health via AARP and neat to know I’m receiving those benefits and have been for some time.

I will get up and dance when I hear certain songs too, and right now as I’m tapping away on my laptop, I’m listening to “Good Golly, Miss Molly.” Okay, he just sent me another joy, Elvis singing “Won’t You Wear My Ring” and, sorry, I have to get up and do some twisting. Shadow stops her nap to stare at me as I wiggle, move and I guess she wonders what her best friend is up to now! I did see that pets can make one healthier too, and they also have a calming benefit. Well that’s almost free, just have to keep her up to date on the shots, and make sure she’s well fed.    I’m a very blessed soul, and will keep accepting these wonderful and free healings!
