Several public hearing items were on the agenda for the Locust Grove City Council’s workshop meeting last week. No action was taken, but all are expected to be considered at the council’s next regular meeting December 3.
An annexation request has been made for a 98.3-acre site on the west side of Davis Lake Road between Colvin Drive and Pine Grove Road. A separate agenda item is the rezoning of that same property, from RA (residential agricultural) to R-3 (medium/high-density single-family residential).
Previously the Henry County Board of Commissioners issued a formal objection to the annexation with the understanding the land would be rezoned for a commercial or industrial use. Now that the site is slated for residential zoning, there is no objection from the county.
Another rezoning under consideration in Locust Grove is for approximately 264 acres along Price Road to the west side of I-75, south of Bethlehem Road, from RA to M-1 (light manufacturing) for logistics and warehouse/distribution purposes.
About 42.5 acres to the east of the Berkeley Lakes subdivision, north of South Singley Circle, is up for rezoning from R-2/CRS (single-family residential with CRS Conditional Use) to PR-4 (planned residential) for planned single-family residential use.
The final rezoning is for about 25 acres on the west side of South Bethany Road, north of Mose Brown Drive, from RA (residential – agricultural) to R-2 (single-family residential) for a single-family residential subdivision.
