The Henry County Water Authority (HCWA), in partnership with the Henry County Stormwater Management Department is seeking volunteers for the 2018 Henry County Rivers Alive river cleanup on Saturday November 3 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
The cleanup will be held at the Camp Creek area waterway, located behind the Hampton Point Apartments in McDonough with access off Pennsylvania Avenue and parking available in the back from the Nationwide Insurance offices and lots to the left.
The Henry County Rivers Alive river cleanup is a way for residents to celebrate the statewide Rivers Alive program Georgia’s Annual Waterway Cleanup event, which targets all waterways in the State, including creeks, streams, rivers, lakes, beaches, and wetlands.
The mission of Rivers Alive is to create awareness of and involvement in the preservation of Georgia’s water resources. Rivers Alive is a Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Outreach Program.
Georgia’s waterways, which include more than 70,000 miles of streams and rivers, provide us with water for finished drinking water production, recreational opportunities like fishing and canoeing, and natural resources that add to the quality of life and economic development in the State.
