Thanks to Mike Moon for submitting this photo to us. Mike said, “this is the home of Thomas and Nancy Copeland Fields and the photo is from around 1880. The house stood at the corner of Chambers Road and Jonesboro Road and was later transferred to Mr. Benjamin H. Morris. Then, it became the home of Minnie Floyd Chaffin. It was later moved to the Southlake Mall area.” Maurine Wise wrote, “this picture shows the Jonesboro Road home of Howard and Minnie Chaffin.” Thanks also to James Arthur (Bo) Chaffin, Debbie Wise and Linda Chaffin Wood. Linda Wood wrote, “we moved to the house at the corner of Chambers and Jonesboro Road in 1946 when I was just one year old. Our parents, William Howard and Minnie Berry Chaffin, had four children at the time; Maurine, Donald, Arthur (Bo), and Linda. Brenda was born in 1949. My sister Maurine said the first thing she did was pull on the electric lights. It was the first house we lived in that had electricity. My brother Bo bought the house in 1995 after our mother’s death. Daddy had passed away in 1985. Bo remodeled the house and rented it out for a few years before the City of Morrow acquired the house in 2005 (or 2006) and moved it to historic Olde Town Morrow. I remember my daughter, Wendy Wood Butler, and I driving by one day on our way to look at wedding dresses for her daughter Emily’s wedding and we stopped by to see Mam-Maw and Papa’s house. It had been painted burgundy and was now home to a seafood restaurant. I believe the name was McGuire’s. We sat and ate in what was once our living room as we reminisced of days gone by. We later were allowed to wander around each downstairs room and share memories with the owner and staff. It was really an enjoyable afternoon. I’d like to thank the person who shared this photo. It stirred up many memories of “the good old days.”
