Trail/Streets Alive event this Saturday
By Monroe Roark Times Correspondent
Stockbridge officials are hosting a special event this weekend to help citizens get better acquainted with one of its more attractive natural resources.
The Trail/Streets Alive family event is scheduled for Saturday, July 15, beginning at the Reeves Creek Trail head at 415 Flippen Road. Participants will walk, run or bike the 1.5-mile trail to Memorial Park where a variety of activities are scheduled, then return to the trail head.
Organizers are seeking to attract all ages and ability levels, including children and special-needs or wheelchair participants. Memorial Park is equipped with special-needs playground equipment.
Among those expected at the event are members of the Southern Crescent Cycling team and bike teams from the Henry County police and fire departments. There will be a fire truck and police car at Memorial Park for young people to inspect, as well as a fresh fruit and vegetable vendor, a healthy grain-fed beef provider, a DJ, a bouncy house, an Italian ice truck and a variety of healthy snacks.
There will be free shuttle service from Stockbridge City Hall between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Officials have referred to this as the preferred parking method since parking at the trail is very limited.
