James Leland Stephens
James Leland Stephens, age 75 of McDonough, Ga., passed into heaven on Thursday, May 4, 2017 in the presence of his loving family. Leland was born in Ephesus, Ga., on September 9, 1941 to the late Mirrie Neal Stephens and Sarah Henrietta Williams Stephens. Leland was a member of Hampton First Baptist Church since 1989 where he served as a deacon for several terms and was an AWANA leader for 12 years. Leland was a retired employee of General Motors where he worked for 32 years. He was also employed part-time at Kohl’s Department Store for the past 12 years. When not working, Leland enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and spoiling his grandchildren.
Leland leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Elaine Lovelace Stephens, three daughters, Karrie Brooks, Karen (and husband, Michael Meredith), and Kathy Stephens as well as his grandchildren, Jacob, Karla, Karina, Aiden and Sarah. He is survived by his siblings, sister Earlene Sorrells, brother and wife Hollis and Norma Stephens, brother and his wife Hiram and Faye Stephens, brother Huell and wife Marguerite Stephens, brother-in-law Delano Keheley, and sister Wanda and husband Mike Hall.

Louise F. Berry
Louise F. Berry, age 89, of McDonough, Ga., died Tuesday, May 9, 2017. She was born in Goodwater, Ala., to the late Reuben and Lula Belle Fennell. She attended school in Millers-ville, AL and retired from K-Mart in Fayetteville, N.C. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church. She will always be remembered for her wit, wisdom and love throughout the years. She and Alvin enjoyed traveling and had lived in Alabama, California, and North Carolina before settling in Georgia after they retired. They enjoyed doing crafts together. They turned their hobby into a business known as “Berried Treasures” and were active in craft fairs such as the Geranium Festival. They also enjoyed camping and fishing together.She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Alvin D. Berry and her son-in-law, Edwin H. Foster.
Louise will be greatly missed by her loving family including daughters, Wanda Foster, Donna (and Tommy) Garnett of McDonough, and Angela Berry of Fayetteville, N.C.; grandchildren, Melissa Haist, Tiffany (and Eric) Sachmann, Kristy Montgomery, Jared Hickox, Jennifer Fargar (and Dave Holland), Eydie (and Kip) Gellins, and Donnie Saxon, Jr.; great grandchildren, Emily Provau, Lydia Powell, Nick Fargar, Karoline Montgomery, Kacy (and Lauren), Brett (and Cindy), Nikki Gellins, Sage Holland, McKenzie, Aiden, Russell and Tommy Hickox; great-great grandchildren, Ryan, Riley and Gabriel Gellins; sister, Mary F. Nelson of Goodwater, Ala.; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 2 p.m. at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Rick Statham officiating. Interment at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hampton. The family received friends on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Barbara Jean Clements
Barbara Jean Clements, age 79, of Peachtree City, Ga., died Sunday, April 16, 2017. Barbara grew up in the Ola Community of McDonough, graduated from Henry County High School, and attended Reinhardt College. She retired from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court system after 39 years as Secretary/Judicial Assistant to Judge Homer Drake. In addition, Barbara enjoyed taking occasional trips and read avidly. Barbara will be deeply missed by her loving family and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Lee and Madge Allen Jeffears of McDonough, Ga.
She is survived by her son, Michael Clements (Samantha), grandsons Taylor, Joshua, and Jeremy of Temple Terrace, Fla.; brother, Ronald Jeffears (Asuman) of McDonough; niece Rachel Jeffears of New York City, nephew Brian Jeffears of McDonough; and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20 at 10 a.m. at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church in McDonough, where she was a member. Rev. Wendell Banks officiated. Interment was held at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends following the service. Donations can be made to the Mt.
