Jeanette Joyner Goodman
Mrs. Jeanette Joyner Goodman, age 87, of McDonough, Ga., passed away May 3, 2017. Jeanette was born in Henry County, the daughter of the late Leila Mae Moore Joyner and Thomas Edward Joyner. Jeanette was a member of McDonough First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, helping other people and was known for her outgoing personality. She was active with her ladies group the “Chickadees.” She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry William Goodman and sisters, JoAnn Morton and Mary Dollar; brothers, Jimmy, Donald and Gerald Joyner.
Survivors are children, Nancy and Jerry Little of Fayetteville, Vicki and Bill Knight of Dayton, Ohio, Ronnie and Beth Good- man of Snellville and Neal and Cheryl Goodman of McDonough; brothers, J. T. Joyner, David Joyner, and Carlton Joyner; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 1 p.m. at McDonough United Methodist Church with Rev. Clinton Humphrey McDonald
Clinton Humphrey McDonald, age 82, of Locust Grove, Ga., passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017. He was born on Thursday, January 3, 1935 in Parkersburg, W. VA., and was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church, Locust Grove, Ga. He was an ordained Deacon of the Independent Baptist Faith. He was active in the church’s soul winning ministry. He also enjoyed watching college football and playing golf with brothers of the church. Mr. McDonald enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1954, and was honorably retired in 1974. While on active duty he served as a Drill Instructor, a Radar Operator, and Squadron First Sergeant. He was on active duty during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon returning to civilian life, Mr. McDonald drove a school bus for 3 years, and then was a tractor-trailer driver for 15 years with Allegheny Freight Lines and Conoco/Dupont. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Mae McDonald, and daughter, Donna Stokes.
Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Frances McDonald of Locust Grove, Ga.; daughter, Sharon McDonald of Locust Grove, Ga.; son, Barry and Karrie McDonald of McDonough, Ga.; daughter, Rhonda and Randy Morris of Merritt Island, Fla.; son, Russell Cronin of Hyde Park N.Y.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mr. Clinton Humphrey McDonald was held on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Heritage Baptist Church with Pastor Terrell Hopkins and Pastor Steve Cape officiating. Interment at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. The family will received friends at the funeral home from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday evening. Frances Stone Kittle
Mrs. Frances Stone Kittle, age 91, of McDonough, Ga., passed away May 5, 2017. Mrs. Kittle was born in Dalton, Ga., the daughter of the late Nannie Lucile Reece and Roy Oscar Stone. Mrs. Kittle was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crafts, knitting, sewing, cooking and was also known for being a devout Christian lady. She was a member of McDonough First Assembly of God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Clarence Kittle; grandson, Bryan Brooks; son-in-law, Bobby Eskew; sister, Evaline Wilson; brothers, Jack and Hulan Stone.
Survivors are her loving daughters, Carol Rexrode (Jim) of Lake Martin, Al, Wanda Jones (Jimmy) of Stockbridge, Glenda Buttigieg (Nick) of Gozo, Malta, Tina Brooks (Rocky) of Locust Grove; grandchildren, Suzanne Chapman (Larry), Lisa Grande (Michael), Alison Driskell (Shannon), Kasey Daughtry (Brian), Christy Jones (Ty), Paige Perry (Aaron), Daniel Brooks (Ashley), and Nancy Buttigieg; great grandchildren, Caroline and Cate Chapman, Tyler and Lane Perry , and Shiloh Brooks; brothers, Jimmy Stone of Dalton, GA and Max Stone of Lafayette, Ga; several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Rev. Barbara Brown Hurst
Mrs. Barbara Brown Hurst, age 81, of Tucker, Ga., passed away May 7, 2017. Barbara was born in Locust Grove the daughter of the late Kate Adele Pendley Brown and Henry Clifford Brown Sr. Barbara was a member of Brookhaven Christian Church since 1962 where she served as an Elder and in other areas of the church. She graduated from LaGrange College in 1957 and was in the Alpha Phi Beta Sorority, she was the Miss May Court Queen, and President of the Student Council. Barbara loved children and she treasured her time at St. Andrews Preschool. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, working in her flower gardens and enjoying her backyard birds as well as her cats “B.W. & Priss.” She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, James Brown, Katherine Ernst, Clifford Brown, Julian Brown, Leslie Brown and Bobby Brown.
Survivors are her loving husband of 60 years whom has been by her side every day, George D. Hurst Jr. of Tucker; sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Donna Hurst of Dacula and Trae Hurst of Dacula; granddaughter, Samantha Hurst of Athens; sisters-in-law, Polly Brown, Jean Brown and Joan Ernst; special nieces that she considered her daughters and nephews. She had two very special lifelong friends, Dottie Pitts Olson and Marie Brown Roberts.
The family will receive friends at Brookhaven Christian Church, 4500 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, Ga 30319 on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the church on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jennifer Heinz officiating. Inurnment will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1 p.m. at the Locust Grove Cemetery. Edwin H. Foster
Edwin H. Foster (Ed), age 84, of McDonough, Ga., died Sunday, May 7, 2017. He was born in Hampton, Ga., to the late Barney Homer and Mattie Lucille Dorsey Foster. He attended Fulton High School where he was chosen “The Most Likely to Succeed” and the University of Georgia Atlanta Division. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. Ed was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a Shriner and a Mason. Ed had a long career in the automotive industry beginning with his first job while still in high school working for Genuine Parts where he mixed the first paint colors for cars in the Atlanta area. He retired from Ford Motor Company as Production Engineering Manager after 32 years of service. He brought the first robot to the Atlanta Assembly Plant. He was much too energetic to retire so after Ford he had another career with TRW Vehicle Safety visiting all automotive plants on the East Coast to check the quality of airbags, seat belts and steering wheels. After 12 years with TRW, and still not ready to retire, he started his own business Global Automotive Solutions and was a consultant in the automotive industry and after 5 years finally retiring at the age of 76. After retiring he found that he had a green thumb and all the family knew if they had a plant that was dying, to bring it to him and he could revive it. He loved to root new plants and watch them grow. He enjoyed feeding the birds, watching and identifying them as well.
When not working, he was always on the go and had been on over 65 cruises where he met and still communicated with friends all over the world. In their McDonough neighborhood they were known as Mr. and Mrs. Hot Dog because for over 18 Halloweens, they would dress as Mustard and Ketchup, cook and serve approximately 400 hot dogs as their Halloween Treat.
Ed will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 35 years, Wanda Foster; daughters, Eydie and Kip Gellins, Melissa Haist; grandchildren, Kacy and Lauren Gellins, Brett and Cindy Gellins, Nikki Gellins, Emily Provau; great-grandchildren Ryan, Riley, and Gabriel Gellins; mother-in-law, Louise Berry; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Tommy Garnett of McDonough and Angela Berry of Fayetteville, N.C., nieces and nephew, Kristy Montgomery, Tiffany Sachmann, Jared Hickox, Jennifer Fargar; and many beloved great nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2 p.m. at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Rev. Rick Statham officiating. Interment will follow at
