Spring workday at Community Garden

Special to The Times

The Wesley Way Community Garden will host a spring work day on Saturday, April 8, beginning at 9 a.m. The garden is on the grounds of Wesley Way United Methodist Church off McGarity Road.

This site is one of the three active gardens of Community Gardens of Henry County. The work day is for plot holders as well as any volunteer who would like to assist with the Helping Harvest for needy families. In addition, there are still a couple of vacant plots available for rent to individuals.

Tools are provided for work days, but volunteers are advised to bring gloves. Participants will enjoy a hot dog lunch and social time after working.

“This is a great time for anyone who is curious about community gardens to come out and see what we do,” says Glenda Garris, a board member and gardener. “There’s nothing like growing your own fresh produce for your dinner table.”
