Fill the Purse event taking donations
In honor of Financial Literacy Month the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse presents the Davis Agency’s Fill the Purse Event going on now through April 29.
They are seeking donations of the following items: tampons, menstrual pads, washcloths, body wash and soap, shampoo, deodorant, combs and brushes, toothpaste and toothbrushes, lotion, lip balm, lipstick, make-up, compact mirrors, travel size kleenex, wet wipes, hand sanitizer, mini-planners, and all other hygiene products. Donations will be distributed to victims of domestic violence. Donations must be dropped off at 2152 Highway 20 West in McDonough. Hours of operations are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Used Instruments needed for Music Students
Henry Arts Alliance is seeking donations of used musical instruments for children in music band, or orchestra who cannot participate because of the cost.The organization will refurbish used instruments with the help of a Heritage Foundation Grant and local music stores and deliver them to teachers that are asking for help. ReStore Seeking Volunteers
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore McDonough is seeking volunteers to give 4 hours a week to help make a difference in the community. The ReStore sells donated, new and gently used furniture, household décor, appliances, and building supplies to the general public, to raise funds to support Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity as they provide affordable housing for families in the community who need it. Volunteers in the ReStore assist shoppers, accept donations, unload donation trucks, and prepare and set up merchandise. The ReStore is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. and is located at 1465 Hwy. 20 West in McDonough. ­Awesome Blossom Spring Fest
The 2nd annual Awesome Blossom Spring Fest will be held on the campus of Bethel UMC in Stockbridge on Saturday, May 6 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. They are currently looking for vendors who wish to sell their arts and craft wares at the event. Master Gardeners taking applications for scholarship
The Henry County Master Gardeners are currently accepting applications for their annual scholarship in the amount of $1,000. They encourage Henry County seniors who are considering college in the following areas to apply: Horticulture, Landscaping, Farming, Agriculture and Agriculture Business.
