Community submissions needed for Window Museum at library

Special to The Times

Fortson Public Library in Hampton is creating a Window Museum on Women Who Inspire Us. They need your help to fill the windows in the library with contributed pieces on inspirational women. You can create the piece at the library or at home. Submissions may be turned in at the Fortson Public Library (61 McDonough St., Hampton, GA 30228) or emailed to Molly Kellam, Young Adult Specialist, at kellamm@mail.henry.public.

Join them at the end of the month to celebrate all the wonderful contributions to the Window Museum and Women’s History Month. The celebration will be held Tuesday, March 28 at 4:45 p.m. at Fortson Public Library in Hampton.

For the month of March, submissions will be displayed on the windows throughout the library. Submissions may be picked up at the end of the month if you would like them returned.

Many individuals pass in and out of our lives staying a moment, staying a lifetime and everything in between. Of all the people who make up our life, a few will spark inspiration in our soul that shapes the rest of our life. In this display, we are highlighting the women who inspire us. Perhaps you have known her your whole life; perhaps you have never met her. Whether she is someone in your family, someone you have studied in history, or someone else you find admirable, share with the community how unique she is and celebrate her accomplishments.

How can you share her story? That is entirely up to you. Everyone’s story is unique and how you honor her is completely up to you. You could create an art project (various art supplies are available in the Young Adult Department); interview someone and share the interview with us (sample interview questions are available in the Young Adult Department); write a poem or a short essay; create a biography or a timeline (the library has research tools to assist you).
