From Staff Reports
The Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy has opened voting online at www.ferstfoundation.org for the Georgia Retired Educators Association’s “For the Love of Reading” Challenge. Retired educators from Bulloch, Decatur, Henry, Lamar, Morgan, Pickens, Toombs and Wayne counties are vying for the title of “2017 Favorite Reader.”

The public is invited to visit the website from now until Feb. 28, to watch videos of educators reading their favorite books to kids and discussing the importance of reading at an early age. Participants can vote for their favorite readers. The Ferst Foundation and GREA will announce the winning reader in early March.
GREA President Jesse Hunter chose the Ferst Foundation as the association’s humanitarian project of the year. Hunter supports Ferst’s mission to get books into the hands of children. This mission is emphasized in each educator video competing for “Favorite Reader.”
