Students purchase gifts for local family
Special to the Times
Mrs. Kim Wiernicki’s 4th grade class at Flippen Elementary School recently came up with a a great idea for a project. The students decided that they wanted to help others and the class decided to “adopt” a family for the holidays.
The students collected monetary donations for the effort and ended up raising $180.75. Mrs. Wiernicki arranged to meet with some of her students at Walmart to go shopping for their adopted family. While they were there, another parent donated $100. The children were excited to be able to shop for the less fortunate. They matched outfits, picked out socks, and found hats, mittens, jackets, shoes, boots, blankets, and of course, toys. The class left Walmart with very enlarged hearts.
