Robert Todd Ruark
Mr. Robert Todd Ruark, age 52, of McDonough, Georgia passed away on November 28, 2016. Todd was born in Los Angeles, Calif., to the late Joseph and Maryanne Schumacher Ruark. Sergeant First Class Ruark served our country in the United States Army for 20 years in counter intelligence; earning eight medals and several other awards, ribbons, and decorations. After retiring from the Army, he continued his career by serving and protecting our community with the Henry County Police Department. Todd was a true down to earth man, known for his honesty, loyalty, huge heart, and his thoroughness in everything he did. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, fishing, and being outdoors. Todd’s pride and joy were his children, wife, and grandson. He will always be remembered for the loving and caring husband and father he was to his family.
Todd leaves behind his loving wife, Susie Ruark; sons, Cole Stanley and his wife, Rebecca, Nicholas Ruark, and Jacob Ruark; grandson, Cooper Stanley; brother, Scott Ruark and his wife, Lauren; half-sisters, Misty Palermo and Stephanie Wright; nephews, Josh Ruark and Joe Ruark; several extended family members and his Henry County Police Department family.
A service to honor Todd’s life was held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Police Chaplain Ralph Easterwood officiated. The family received friends from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service. A graveside service with full military honors was held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Martha Bourquine Allen
Mrs. Martha Bourquine Allen, age 78 of McDonough, Ga., passed away November 30, 2016. She was born in Barney, Georgia to the late S.W. and Estie Watson Bourquine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jo Allen and by a stepson, Douglas Allen. Martha was an active member of Timberridge Presbyterian Church where she served as Elder. She was an RN for a few years, working at Grady and Georgia Baptist Hospitals’. She then worked for 33 years as the office manager for Bobby Allen State Farm Insurance. She enjoyed volunteering for charity and the community, spending time with her grandchildren and trips to Jekyll Island.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Eve (Michael) Hayes and Tonya (Mike) Lunsford all of McDonough; grandchildren, Erica Allen, Ren Allen, June Hart, Mikey Hayes, Macklin Hayes, Jessie Hayes, Slaton Lunsford, Skylar Lunsford, Isabella Lunsford; great grandchildren, Jacob Stein, Kelci Stein, Kayla Hayes, Mia Hayes, Preecha Davis and Ashlyn Davis.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. Rev. Rachael Knoll and Rev. Fred Young officiated. Interment at Timberridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Friends visited the family on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to Timberridge Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society in memory of Martha Allen. Margaret W. Foster
Mrs. Margaret W. Foster, age 92, of McDonough, Ga., passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2016 after a brief illness. Mrs. Foster was born on May 24, 1924, in Dawson, Ga., to the late Mr. and Mrs. V.V. Willis. She was a graduate of Albany High School. She later earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Georgia Southwestern College in Americus, Ga. Margaret was wedded to Warren E. Foster, of Phoenix City, Ala., on February 1, 1944. They enjoyed 66 years together before he preceded her in death in 2010. They had two daughters, Connie and Cathy who brought them much joy. Mrs. Foster retired from Clayton County Public Schools in 1986 after teaching school for 33 years. She received her Master’s Degree in Reading Education from Georgia State University and was an active member of the International Reading Association. After her retirement from teaching, Margaret embarked on a second career in the Real Estate field. Mrs. Foster served her clients with the same compassion and vigor that she served her students. Margaret was a member of McDonough First United Methodist Church and lived out her Christian faith on a daily basis. She loved wholeheartedly and always saw the very best in those around her. She will be missed so very much by all.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Connie Broom (Richard), of Lincolnton, Georgia, Cathy Thomas (Terry), of McDonough, Ga., sister, Vicky Spradley, of Darien, Ga., grandchildren, Chris Broom (Rebecca), of Toccoa, Ga., Casey Broom (Heather), of Lincolnton, Ga., Meg Norrell (Chad), of McDonough, Ga., Travis (Courtney), of McDonough, Ga., 13 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and dear friend and caregiver, Carole Potts, of McDonough, Ga.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at Haisten Funeral Home in McDonough, Ga. Interment at Eastlawn Memorial Park in McDonough, Ga.
