Letters To The Editor

Dear Editor,

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Paul Paulicelli. I am retired and live in McDonough with my wife of 50 years. I am also a proud member of The Shrine of North America.

As a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. I want to take a moment to thank the young teacher, Ms. Shepherd, whose class of 1st graders from Flippen Elementary School, made personalized cards for the veterans attending the Veteran’s Day celebration Wall of Honor at Heritage Park in McDonough on Veteran’s Day.

Having served from 1970-1982, I was both touched and gratified to think that our younger generation is being taught the history of our country, respect for those who served, and how to honor those who have served their country. I was so touched because I was not given any honor or respect when I had returned stateside from my Asian tour during the Viet Nam era.

I would love to speak to her [Ms. Shepherd] class at some point, to discuss my tour of duty and what the service meant to me. The boy whose card I received was written by Landon H. I was so proud to have received it from him.

Semper Fi & God Bless
One and All,
Lee R. Longe
