The holiday season in Henry County will be off and running – quite literally – when the Rotary Club of Henry County presents the 2016 Jingle Jog.

The annual 5K run and 1-mile walk is scheduled for Dec. 3, starting at First Baptist Church of McDonough. Registration is scheduled from 9-9:45 a.m., and the race will begin at 10 a.m. Festivities will also include an Elf Trot at 10:30 a.m., for children ages 6 and under.

The event will also feature a costume contest for men, women and children in holiday attire.

The Jingle Jog is a signature event for the Rotary Club each year, said the club’s President, Christy Collier. She said the event has enjoyed consistent support from local business leaders and residents over the years.

“We had over 200 runners last year,” said Collier. “We’re a service-oriented group, and we use the money for service projects.”

Collier said the Rotary Club hopes to raise about $6,000 through this year’s Jingle Jog. She noted that the race is just the tip of the iceberg for the day’s yuletide happenings, and said she is looking forward to this year’s race.

“The city has the Christmas tree lighting and the parade, so it is a kickoff for the holidays here,” said Collier. “My favorite aspect is, I just love the community involvement and family involvement. You see some of the same people run year after year. And, I love the costumes.”

The fee to register for the Jingle Jog is $30 in advance or $35 on race day. Sponsorships are also available for individuals and businesses who wish to participate in the event.

Sponsors at the top three levels will receive media recognition, placement on commemorative T-shirts, recognition on banners and social media, corporate booth space and tickets to the race.

Great Elf sponsorships, worth $3,000, include a presenter designation at the Jingle Jog, starting-line banner space and eight race-entry tickets. Santa’s Helper sponsorships are available for $1,500 each, and include starting-line banner space and six race-entry tickets. Rudolph sponsorships, worth $1,000, include four race-entry tickets.

Ginger Bread sponsors, for $500 will receive logo placement on T-shirts and two race-entry tickets. Jingle Bell sponsors will get to place signs for their businesses along the race route, for a fee of $250.

For those wishing to support the race without lacing up their running shoes, donations can also be made. Checks can be made payable to the Rotary Club of Henry County.
