Dorothy Wood Whitlock
Mrs. Dorothy Wood Whitlock, age 97, of McDonough, Ga., passed away September 6, 2016. She was born in Bluford, Ill., the daughter of the late Mary Fry Wood and Fred B. Wood. Miss Dorothy and Grandma Dorothy, as she was known by most of her family and friends, enjoyed traveling, cooking, crafts, gardening, birds, and watching the old TV shows. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Illinois and attended Eagles Landing Baptist Church before her declining health. She retired from Bennett International Group as a payroll and settlement manager with 13 years of service. She was preceded in death by husbands, Maurice Henry Green and Harvey Brooks Whitlock; siblings, Virgil Wood, Irvin Wood, Arthur Wood, Helen Wood and Vermadell Reeker.
Survivors are her children, Marcia and Mike Taylor of Peachtree City and Duane and Marsha Green of Cambridge, Ill.; grandchildren, David and Brenda Lowry of Locust Grove, Danny and Paige Lowry of Beach Mountain, S.C., Lynette and Stoney Mathis of Peachtree City, Dennis and Anna Gulley of Powder Springs, Carrie Green of Ft. Myers, Fla., Jason and Kate Green of Cape Coral, Fla., and Jamie and Cassie Green of Shakopee, Minn.; 11 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family received friends at Haisten Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Haisten Funeral home with Chaplain Jim Weathers and Rev. Pam Jenkins officiating. Interment was at Oakdale Cemetery in Bluford, Ill., on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. Contributions may be made to the “Taylor Foundation” who will be making a donation to the “Southern Grace Hospice & Palliative Care” program in memory of Ms. Dorothy. 100% of the money contributed will go to them. Joyce F. Starr
Mrs. Joyce Fortner “Tootsie” Starr, age 85 of McDonough, Georgia, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Eternal Hope Hospice. Mrs. Starr was born in Greenville, South Carolina on January 13, 1931. She was in the 1st 12th grade class to graduate from Owens High School in S.C. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Fortner and Alice Shipman Fortner, her husband, Elder Merlyn “Mutt” Starr and a daughter, Sue Ellen Starr. She was a member of the County Line Congregational Christian Church and was a retired civil service employee from Ft. Gillam. She and her husband were former owners of Starr Bright Jewelers in McDonough, Ga.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Charles Davis, Brenda “Kaye” and Danny Sellars; three grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher Brian and Stephanie Deatherage, Danette Martain and Kristopher Hutchens, Jennifer Robin and David Stephenson and 11 great grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew and several cousins.

Donald Mead Wilson
Donald Mead Wilson, age 74, of McDonough, Ga., passed away on September 8, 2016. He was born in Atlanta on June 25, 1942 to Len and Dolores Wilson and raised in Jacksonville Beach, FL. He graduated from Fletcher High School there in 1960 and maintained life-long friendships with classmates. He attended Florida State University and graduated from Jacksonville University in 1966. He served as a medic for four years in the United States Air Force at Patrick AFB in Cocoa Beach, FL. His career at State Farm Insurance Company in Atlanta spanned 34 years. He retired in 2004 as a Manager of Claims, Auto Division of the GA/SC Region. Mr. Wilson had many interests throughout his life, including salt water and fresh water fishing. He was most proud of his fourteen acre farm in McDonough, where he raised cattle, chickens, bees and vegetables. He was a popular host at his farm where he entertained his many friends. After retirement, he claimed, “Every day is a Saturday!” He was an adored family man, honest and fun-loving, true friend of many throughout his life and will be sorely missed.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife Donna Jean Cracraft Wilson, sons Troy L. Wilson of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Ty Wilson of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; and Dustin Wilson of McDonough, Ga.,; sister Carolyn Wilson Crouse (John); niece, Kelley Buttrick (Brian) of Bishop, GA; nephew Robert Carruthers (Kelley) of Lexington, S.C.; and brother-in-law Dale Cracraft (Valerie) of Clearwater, Fla.
Family and friends will celebrate the life of Mr. Wilson at his home on September 24. He requested that instead of flowers, contributions be made to individual charities of choice. SouthCare Cremation & Funeral Society is in charge of arrangements. www.southcare.us

Reginald Judson McCrary
Reginald Judson McCrary, age 75 of McDonough passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the late Judson Edgar and Frances McGraw McCrary. Reg was a 46-year volunteer with the Chick Fil A Peach Bowl and was to be recognized this year as the FBA Volunteer of the Year in 2015. He was inducted into the Peach Bowl Hall of Fame in 2013, and served as the Chairman of Game Management in addition to previously serving as part of the team selection committee. Reg was a licensed real estate agent with RE/MAX Advantage, and a member of Metro South Association of Realtors. He was a graduate and avid University of Alabama fan. He was a member of The Million Dollar Band where he met his future wife, Sandra. Reg served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict, and later retired as a pilot from Delta Airlines with 32 years’ service. He was a member of McDonough Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his son Ryan Holder McCrary.
Mr. McCrary is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sandra McCrary, of McDonough, GA; children, Reggie (Deadra) McCrary, of Roswell, Robin (Chris) Brake, of McDonough; grandchildren, DJ Cargile, Taylor McCrary, Alex, Peyton, and Baylee Brake; sister, Anne Johnston, of Acworth; niece, Stephanie Lloyd, of Villa Rica.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at The Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors. Interment at Sherwood Memorial Park.
