Groovin’ in the Grove October 1

Special to The Times

Locust Grove Main Street is busily preparing for their 12th Annual Groovin’ in the Grove taking place Saturday, October 1. Although this is Main Street’s 12th year organizing the Locust Grove favorite, Main Street has a few changes in mind for 2016.

This years “hoedown” themed fundraiser kicks off at 7 p.m. in its new location: Claude Gray Park, located near City Hall at 99 Frances Ward Drive in Locust Grove. Tables of eight may be purchased for $150 and individual tickets are $25 each. The ticket form is available at Locust Grove City Hall, on the event’s Facebook page, or online at

“Groovin’” will once again feature the Mackie Creek Band and our yearly table decorating contest. New additions to the event including a catered barbeque dinner and a performance from Flint River to complement 2016’s hoedown theme.

Funds raised at this year’s Groovin’ in the Grove event will go toward improvements in downtown’s Mayor’s Walk Park, which include decorative lighting and plans to restore a historic Snow Drift Shortening mural-style advertisement.
