Ouida Brackin Maney


Ouida Brackin Maney, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2016, at home in Locust Grove, Ga. Ouida was born on December 7, 1932, to Mattie Aycock Brackin and Lee Ellis Brackin, in Longview, Mississ-ippi. She developed many interests as a young lady. Her faith in God above all, her love for her family, friends and country, and her appreciation for music made her the woman she was. She met the love of her life, Wilbur (Bill) Maney in San Angelo, Texas. Following the proposal about two years later, Ouida married Wilbur on November 20, 1953. Shortly after the birth of their first daughter they returned to Georgia and eventually settled in Dillard, Georgia for 27 years. They moved to Tignall for the next 25 years, during which Ouida retired as a United States Postmaster. Lastly, they moved to Locust Grove four years ago to be closer to family and have developed dear friendships at their church and local senior center. Ouida was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Carol, and her sister, Ann Gilbreath.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wilbur; her 3 children and their spouses: Bill & Linda Maney, Debra and Greg Smith, and Ruth and Dennis Strickland; her 6 grandsons: Clay (wife Shawna), Greg (wife, Ashley), Morris, Alex (wife, Amanda), Jelani, and A.J.; her 2 great-granddaughters, Dakota, and Alissa; her brothers and their spouses: James & Wanda Smith, Jerry and Helen Brackin, and Ronnie and Betsy Brackin; her sister-in-law, Roberta Copeland, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A memorial service will be held on August 6, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove, located at 2950 Tanger Blvd. in Locust Grove, GA 30248. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Building Fund of the First Baptist Church of Locust Grove. The burial will take place on Sunday, August 7, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the cemetery of Tignall Baptist Church, located at 170 S. Hulin Ave, Hwy. 17, Tignall, GA 30668. Paul L. Hudson
Paul L. Hudson, age 65, of Stockbridge, Ga., died Friday, July 15, 2016. He was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. to the late Edsel and Francis Eugene Hudson.
Mr. Hudson is survived by his wife, Brenda “B.J.” Hudson, McDonough, Ga.; daughter, Jennifer Jean Hudson-Chiu and husband Jason, Stockbridge, Ga.; grandchildren, Dahlia Paul and River Chiu, plus Phoenix on the way; siblings, Susan Hudson Crissman, Ola, Ga., and David E. Hudson, Jackson, Ga.; plus many close friends, and loved ones.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Grace Summit Church in Stockbridge, Ga., with Pastor Chris Vaughn officiating. Deborah Ann Smith


Mrs. Deborah Ann Smith, better known as Debbie, age 52, of McDonough, Ga., passed away on July 16, 2016. Debbie was born in Port Angeles, Wash. to Gary and Audrian Hahn Jackson. She proudly served our country in the US Army. Debbie was a graduate of Armstrong State University, where she majored in early childhood education. She passionately taught middle school students during her career and was a true advocate for hands on learning in the classroom. Debbie was artistic and really enjoyed drawing. Her vibrant, caring, and sweet presence will be greatly missed.
Debbie leaves behind her husband, Michael Smith; daughters, Heather Kreller, Megan Heine-man, Madison Smith, and MacKenzie Smith; grandchildren: Devon, Caden, and Addison; mother, Audrian Hahn; father, Gary Jackson and his wife, Nancy; brother, Robert Jackson; and her mother-in-law, Linda Smith.
A service to honor Debbie’s life was held on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Haisten Funeral Home with Pastor Brooks Everett officiating. The family received friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. Interment was held at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Mesquite, Tex. John LeRoy Triggs
John LeRoy Triggs, age 69, of Locust Grove, Ga., passed away July 20, 2016. John was born in Indianola, Iowa the son of the late Lelah Pearl Penick Triggs and John Reazzon Triggs. John served his country in the US Army for three plus years. He was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church. John enjoyed spending time with family and friends, singing karaoke, RC airplanes, fishing, gardening and playing his guitar. He was preceded in death by several siblings, Lillian, Eldon, Eleanor and Carolyn.
Survivors are his wife of 46 plus years, Susan Triggs of Locust Grove; children, Bonnie Turpin (Shane) of Meansville, and John J. Triggs (Jenelle) of McDonough; grandchildren, Alicen, Andrew, Audrey Turpin; siblings, Glenn Triggs of Clive, Iowa, Vera Minella of Indianola, Iowa, and Janice Crittenden of Davenport, Iowa; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
The family received friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Haisten Funeral Home with Rev.
