Diabetes Prevention Program
A CDC Diabetes Prevention Program will begin Tuesday, August 9 from 4-5 p.m. and continue for the next 16 weeks. It will be held at the Hands of Hope Clinic, located at 1010 Hospital Drive in Stockbridge. The class leader, Jane Prince, is a Registered Nurse and a lifestyle coach. Sock Hop at the Moose Lodge
Henry County Moose Lodge, WOTM Chapter #1115 will have a Community Service “50’s ‘Summer Sock Hop” on Saturday, July 30 from 8 p.m.-12 a.m. They will be awarding prizes for the dance and costume contest. The dance will be held at the Moose Lodge, located at 91 Hunters Chase in McDonough. Admission is $5 per person and $10 per couple. This is a community service event. All proceeds are going to support Mooseheart, Moosehaven and the Women of the Moose.

Henry County School Supply Drive ends July 31
Skyzone of McDonough is teaming up with local organizations to help 100 kids in need of assistance in Henry County. They are seeking donations of school supplies from the community from now until July 31. For every five supplies brought in from the following list, Skyzone will give away a free 30 minute jump pass. School supply list: 24-pack of crayons, 12-pack markers, 12-pack color pencils, 12-pack pens (black/blue), 1 pair scissors, 1 bottle of Elmer’s Glue, 2 composition books, 4 pocketed folders (assorted colors). Lunch and Learn on Retirement Planning
Edward Jones Financial Advisor Josh Duncan will host a complimentary seminar Leave It, Roll It, Take It:? Know Your Employer Retirement Plan Options on Tuesday, August 2 at noon. The program will be held at the Edward Jones office located in the Commerce Building at 2100 Keys Ferry Road in McDonough. The program will focus on common distribution options, how to minimize the amount the IRS withholds from your retirement and how taxes, penalties and investment options factor into your decision. Knowing your options when you are leaving a job will help you to make educated choices for your retirement savings. Lunch will be provided for guests who have RSVP’d. Free Tennis Clinic August 6
The Henry County Recreation Department will sponsor a Free Tennis Clinic on Saturday, August 6 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at Richard Craig Park in McDonough.Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m. and the clinic will begin promptly at 9 a.m. The first 50 participants to sign in on the morning of the Tennis Clinic will receive T-shirts. Participants will learn the basic fundamentals of the serve, volley, forehand and backhand. The clinic is for ages 5-85 and for all skill levels. The director is Joeann Compton. Special guests will be Makayla and Alycia Parks. The Parks sisters are currently pursuing professional tennis careers at various tennis academies in Florida. Caring for Aging Parents Support
The Palms at Lake Spivey invites the community to join their support group, Caring for Aging Parents Support (CAPS).
