Parent Expo July 23
Communities in Schools of Henry County will hold their 5th annual Parent Expo on Saturday, July 23 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. This event, for Henry County residents only, will be held at Heritage Park, located at 101 Lake Dow Road in McDonough. It will feature community resources for schools, businesses and non-profits, family activities, ice cream, face painting and inflatables. They will also have a school supply giveaway. The event is sponsored by the Henry County Board of Commissioners, Henry County Schools and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Compassionate Friends
The Compassionate Friends is for parents and other family members who have lost a child in death. They meet the first Monday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Center Point Church located at 4127 US Highway 41 Bypass South in Griffin. Vocal Performance Classes
The Henry County Parks and Recreation Department is now offering Vocal Performance Classes each Friday from 7-8 p.m. at Heritage Park. Classes are for ages 8-13 and cost $80 per month. The instructor is Karin Williams. This program is for those who want to improve their singing voice, learn music theory, develop performance techniques and work with other aspiring young singers. A small group setting provides a supportive environment where students are encouraged to have fun while exploring their creativity and vocal potential. Students will learn proper vocal techniques and exercises to develop their singing voices, build self-confidence and increase musical awareness. Studio Art and Mixed Media
Fairview Recreation Center has Studio Art and Mixed Media classes each Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Classes are for ages 7 and up. The cost is $72 per month. The class instructor is Sheila Patterson. Students will embark on a journey of self-discovery by learning illustration, painting and sculpting techniques to create art based on observation and imagination. Children will sequentially build artistic skills and knowledge. The materials needed are a sketch pad. Fairview Recreation Center is located at 35 Austin Road in Stockbridge.
