Henry County 4-H staff will travel with students for a 5-day residential camp at the 1,500-acre facility near Eatonton. Activities will include canoeing on the camp’s 110-acre lake, educational sessions on to archery, entomology, forestry, gardening, herpetology, lake ecology, and wildlife, and a hike to the Rock Eagle mound.

Sessions are led by trained counselors who have passed an extensive selection process. Chaperones will include Henry County 4-H staff members and trained volunteer leaders.

Campers will stay in one of 55 cottages at the 4-H center. Cafeteria-style meals will be served style in the dining hall

Students will follow a daily schedule and must be in assigned locations at specific times. They will have free time to visit one of two swimming pools at the camp, or visit the canteen and spend time with friends. Pools will be monitored by certified lifeguards.

Rock Eagle offers a “Health’s Our Pledge” Class during the week of camp, with a focus on being active and eating well. Campers will also be able to gain independence as they learn the importance of being early for sessions, being responsible for their belongings, making new friends, and working as part of a team or group.

Registration forms are distributed to all 5th graders in Henry County Schools, and are also available online at www.ugaextension.com/henry. Payment can be made at the time of registration or in three installments.
