Karate Classes
Freestyle Karate is available at the JP Moseley Recreation Center for ages 7 and up. Karate classes are held each Monday from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Weapons/Kali Classes are held each Monday from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Signups are held the first week of each month. The cost is $40 per month for Karate; $50 per month for Weapons/Kali Class. The instructor is Albert Galius. Freestyle Karate is an art of self-defense to protect ourselves and family in unexpected situations. Basic blocking, kicking and empty hand techniques are taught. Used musical instruments needed
Communities in Schools Henry and Henry for Music are seeking donations of used musical instruments to be given to middle school students in Henry County. Drop off instruments at Communities in Schools of Henry County (Excel Academy), Room 418 at 330 Tomlinson Street in McDonough. For more information call 678-432-4499.

Compassionate Friends
The Compassionate Friends is for parents and other family members who have lost a child in death. It meets the second Tuesday of each month at Salem Baptist Church (although it is not a Church program) on Hwy. 155. Please call Freddie Saye at 678-925-4027.

Henry Singers Rehearsals
The Henry Singers invite those with a passion for singing to come and join them each Thursday night from 7:30 until 9 p.m. Rehearsals are held in the choir room of McDonough Presbyterian Church, located at 427 McGarity Road in McDonough. For more information, email info@henrysingers.com.

Studio Art and Mixed Media Class
A Studio Art and Mixed Media Class is held at the Fairview Recreation Center each Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Ages are 7 and up. The cost is $72 per month and Sheila Patterson is the instructor. Students embark on a journey of self-discovery by learning illustration and painting and sculpting techniques to create art work based on observation and imagination. Additionally, your child sequentially builds artistic skills and knowledge. Materials needed: sketch pad. The Fairview Recreation Center is located at 35 Austin Road in Stockbridge.

Freedom Fund Banquet
The Henry County NAACP Branch is a non-profit organization historically committed to equality for all people. The Branch will be sponsoring its 12th Annual Freedom Fund Banquet, Friday, March 18 at 7 p.m. at the Merle Manders Conference Center, 111 Davis Road in Stockbridge. During this event, the Branch will award college scholarships to graduating high school student(s) in need of financial aid. The theme is Pursuing Liberty in the Face of Injustice and the dynamic speaker will be Rev. Charles White, NAACP’s National Field Director.
