A Heritage Christmas is slated for Dec. 12, from 2-6 p.m. Heritage Park is located at 101 Lake Dow Road

Special Events Coordinator Michelle Dunn is overseeing the festival for the Henry County Parks and Recreation Department. Dunn, who has worked for Parks and Recreation for 12 years, says A Heritage Christmas was a popular holiday event for area residents in the past, and she hopes that popularity will pick up where it left off.

“We started the festival in 2005, and our last festival was in 2011,” says Dunn. “Due to budget constraints, we had to cut out some of our special events. We decided to bring this one back this year. We do like to cater to the community in that aspect,” says Dunn.

The event will feature a disc jockey, entertainment, hayrides, crafts, holiday music, a tree lighting and photographs with Santa Claus, Another expected highlight for A Heritage Christmas will be appearances by Disney characters Anna, Elsa and Olaf from the movie “Frozen.”

Kids at A Heritage Christmas will be able to participate in games as well as making s’mores and Christmas ornaments during the event. Dunn says attendees will also have a chance to brighten the holidays for another group of people as well.

“We’ll be signing banners and Christmas cards to send to the troops overseas,” she says.

Refreshments will be available for purchase at the festival. For more information, visit www. hcprd.org or call 770-288-7300.
