Locust Grove Yard Sale
A large yard sale is being held downstairs at the Locust Grove Event Center Thursday, November, 19 and Friday, November 20 beginning at 9 a.m. Both days. Booth rentals are $10 each.
Coat and Blanket Drive taking donations
Resurgens Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic South Surgical Center’s seventh annual Coat and Blanket Drive runs now through December 16. It will benefit neglected and abused women and children in need this holiday season. Items collected will be donated to Haven House of Henry County, a battered women’s shelter. The overflow of extra items will be donated to nearby homeless shelters that partner with Haven House. To participate in the coat drive, simply drop off new or gently used coats or blankets (also accepted are hats, gloves and other cold weather gear) at Resurgens Orthopaedics, 105 Regency Park Drive in McDonough.
Adopt a Senior in Henry County
The Adopt a Senior program is seeking donations for this year’s Christmas delivery. Those interested in participating should call Senior Services who will provide information on a senior in need. Gifts can be festively wrapped or placed in a gift bag and should be delivered to any Henry County Senior Center no later than December 4, 2015. Cash or check donations are always appreciated. Heritage Senior Center is located at 1050 Florence McGarity Boulevard in McDonough. Community Cares Toy Shop accepting donations
Connecting Henry’s annual Community Cares Christmas Toy Shop will be held on December 10 and 11. Officials are looking for donations of toys, money and gift cards as well as volunteers for a number of positions. The toys and donations collected will stay right here in Henry County and go to families in need to make Christmas a little brighter for those that might not otherwise have anything under the tree. Local Author to Sign Books
Author Lucy Heath will be signing her book, The Last Time I Saw Love, Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21 from 9 a.m. until noon. The signing will take place at Light of the World Christian Tabernacle, 5883 GA-155 North in Stockbridge.
Community Blood Drive November 20
Henry County Police Department will have a community blood drive by Life South on Friday, November 20 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. It will be held in the Main Training Room, 116 South Zack Hinton Parkway in McDonough. ESL Class at Fairview Library
English as a Second Language classes are being held at the Fairview Public Library, 28 Austin Road in Stockbridge on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. The classes are free of charge and are for beginners to intermediate. ReStore Seeking Volunteers
The Habitat for Humanity ReStore McDonough is seeking volunteers to give 4 hours a week to help make a difference in the community. The ReStore sells donated, new and gently used furniture, household décor, appliances, and building supplies to the general public, in order to raise funds to support Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity as they provide affordable housing for families in the community who need it. Volunteers in the ReStore assist shoppers, accept donations, unload donation trucks, and prepare and set up merchandise. The ReStore is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and is located at 1465 Hwy. 20 West in McDonough.
