By Jason A. Smith
Are you looking to find the perfect pumpkin to go along with your Halloween festivities?
If so, a trio of locations in Henry County may have just what you need.
The Pumpkin Patch at Yule Forest, 3565 Ga. Highway 155 in Stockbridge, enables customers to select pumpkins and cut them directly from the vine. Guests also have an opportunity take pictures while surrounded by an array of pumpkins.
The Pumpkin Patch also features a number of attractions to help celebrate the fall season. Those attractions include a hayride, a petting zoo, the Pumpkin Movie, the Science Center, an outdoor classroom, the Bee House, a nature trail, a puppet show and a “Fun Zone.” All attractions are covered by the admission price.
The Pumpkin Patch is open Monday through Friday from 4-7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m., 6 p.m. The venue is open on weekday mornings by reservation only.
Admission is $8 for adults, and $10 for children, which includes the Fun Zone and a mini-pumpkin. Kids get in free on Wednesdays when wearing a costume. For more information call 770-954-9356 or visit www.aboutyule.com.
Pumpkins are also available at Southern Belle Farm, 1658 Turner Church Road in McDonough. The popular agritourism spot boasts two acres of pumpkins, a five-acre corn maze, and outdoor activities including pig races, a kiddie corral, a corn cannon, Belle’s Barn, a cow train, pedal carts, a jumping pillow, rubber-duck races and U-pick flowers.
Southern Belle Farm is open during the month of October during the following days and times: Fridays from 4-9 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m., until 9 p.m.; and Sundays from 1-6 p.m. The farm is closed during the week except for field trips, which are available by reservation only.
Admission at Southern Belle is $14 for adults and kids, and $12 for seniors ages 65 and older. Military and public-service personnel with proper identification also get in for $12. Children ages 2 and under are admitted at no charge.
