Casino fundraiser at Nash Farm

From Staff Reports

The McDonough Junior Women’s Club will hold its 2015 Texas Casino and Silent Auction, Oct. 23 at Nash Farm, 100 Babbs Mill Road in Hampton. Tickets are $50, and are available by pre-sale only. The admission price covers dinner, entertainment, one drink ticket, a door-prize entry, and casino gambling chips for table play.

The annual fundraiser will feature blackjack, Texas Hold’em, roulette and craps as well as a photo booth, music by Doug Sheets with Elite Events Atlanta, a cash bar with wine and beer, and dinner catered by The Grand Gourmet.

Brandie Craig, coordinator of the fundraiser, says although her organization raised money through a poker tournament in the past, the event changed to a casino format last year to keep the action going. Craig notes the event will also include a silent auction.

“We’ve done lots of different silent auctions in the past, but this is only the second year we’ve done the casino,” she says. “It was a big hit last year, so we brought it back.”

Last year’s casino fundraiser, says Craig, generated about $3,500, which was filtered back through organizations including A Friend’s House, the Helping in His Name Food Pantry, the Ferst Foundation, the Henry County Public Library System, Haven House, Noah’s Ark Animal Sanctuary and the Henry County Fire Department.

Sponsorship fees are $125 for a casino table, and $500 to sponsor the photo booth or bar. Donations of cash or auction items will also be accepted.
