Peach Stand Road Race May 23
The 9th annual Peach Stand Road Race 5K and 1 mile fun run will be held Saturday, May 23 in Locust Grove. The run begins and ends at the Gardner Farms Peach/Produce Stand on Highway 42 at the north side of Jackson Street. Register online at http://goo.gl/Nl4qDz.


GED Classes for Henry Youth
Connecting Henry is now offering free GED classes to Henry County youth ages 16 - 24. Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. until noon. For more info call Connecting Henry at 770-288-6230.


American Legion Meeting May 14
American Legion Post 33 will meet Thursday, May 14 at 7 p.m. The new location of the American Legion Post is at 67 Veterans Way in McDonough.


Soccer Tournament May 16 and 17
The Henry County Soccer Association, in partnership with the Henry County Parks and Recreation Department will host the 11th annual Atlanta Peach Classic on May 16 and 17 at North Mount Carmel Park. The Atlanta Peach Classic will have over 150 teams from all over the southeast in age groups from Under 9 thru Under 19. Many of the region’s top teams will be in attendance. Tribute to Elvis Show June 6
Mark pitts will be performing his Tribute to Elvis Show at the Henry County Moose Lodge on Saturday, June 6 at 8 p.m. Reserved seats are on sale now for $10. For more info and tickets call 770-957-5303. The Henry County Moose Lodge is located at 91 Hunters Chase in McDonough.


Heritage Writers Group
The Heritage Writers Group will meet at a different time during the month of May. They will meet on May 17 from 2 until 4 p.m. Meetings are held at the McDonough Public Library, 1001 Florence McGarity Blvd.


AA Groups in Henry
Hampton Group meets at Hampton United Methodist Church, 10 West Main Street in Hampton. They meet Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and Fridays at 8 p.m.

Henry County Group meets at the Piedmont Henry Hospital Education Bldg., 1133 Eagle’s Landing Pkwy. in Stockbridge They meet Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7 p.m.

Just For Today Group meets at St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, 1865 Hwy. 20 in McDonough. They meet Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m.

Locust Grove Group meets at Locust Grove United Methodist, 211 Peeksville Rd. in Locust Grove. They meet Fridays at 8 p.m.

McDonough Group meets at McDonough United Methodist Church, 151 Macon Street in McDonough. They meet Monday through Saturday at noon each day.

Stockbridge Group meets at Stockbridge Presbyterian Church, 4740 N. Henry Blvd. in Stockbridge. They meet Mondays and Thursdays at 7 and 7:30 p.m.


Community Concert May 17
The McDonough Arts presents a McDonough Community Concert on Sunday, May 17 at 4 p.m. featuring Matthew McCord and Tara Winds Chamber Ensembles. It will be held at the Henry County Performing Arts Center, located at 37 Lemon Street in McDonough. Tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for children and are available at Moye’s Pharmacy, 62 Keys Ferry Street in McDonough. They will also be available at the door at a cost of $14 for adults and $9 for children.


Genealogical Research 3 Day Series
An Advanced Genealogical Research 3 day series will be held May 13 -15 at the Mercer University Henry Campus from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day. The campus is located at 160 Henry Parkway, McDonough. The event is sponsored by the Genealogical Society of Henry and Clayton Counties. The classes are free with a 2015 membership (forms available at www.henryclaytongenealogy.com. An annual membership is $35 per individual; $40 per couple; $20 for students). Pre-registration is required by emailing sjoverstreet@bellsouth.net. The classes are free to Mercer faculty, staff, and students - a membership is not required.


Carribean Festival June 20
The 5th annual Atlanta Caribbean Cultural Festival will be held Saturday, June 20 from 1 until 8 p.m. The event will be at Alexander Park, located on Atlanta Street in McDonough.
