On Tuesday, April 28 delegates from Southern Crescent Cycling (SCC) met with McDonough Mayor Billy Copeland to make him an honorary member of SCC in recognition for all his efforts to promote cycling in the community and the support year after year of the Georgia Rides to the Capitol event, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. SCC, founded in 2006, believes through cycling people can improve their community by promoting a healthy lifestyle, promoting road cycling, mountain biking, triathlons and many charitable causes through cycling. For example, causes such as the Bloom team to support foster children needs, The Recycle project which donates refurbished bicycles to needy families, Pass the helmet campaign to help the Autism Resource Center and the Bikeapalooza event which sponsored the Kensley Aquatic center last year.
