Catherine Pitts Reeves
Catherine “Kitty” Pitts (Ragan) Reeves, 83, Winter Park, FL passed away Monday, February 9, at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida. Born in Locust Grove, GA, to Lon and Allie Pitts, Kitty attended GSCW and graduated from the University of Georgia with honors. In 1955, Kitty married Paul Ragan in Atlanta. The couple moved to Winter Park in 1956 where they raised their four children. Kitty worked as a Delta Airlines stewardess, and a 7th grade teacher before retiring to devote her time to her family. She is remembered for her quick-wit, sharp knowledge of world history, her competitive spirit and being the life of every function. She loved recounting family history, and enjoyed cooking. She was a devotee to the United States Constitution, the GOP and loved playing contract bridge. She was a Grand Life Master American Contract Bridge League member. She was predeceased by her second child, infant, Richard Arthur Ragan, and her first husband Paul S. Ragan.
Kitty is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, B.P. ‘Doc Reeves’, of Winter Park, Fl and McDonough, Ga.; daughters, Ceci Ragan Fenn, (Chris Fenn) of Cumming, Ga.,Tina Ragan McElyea and Cindy Ragan, both of Winter Park, Fl. and son, Paul “Stan” Ragan of Atlanta, Ga.; sister, Dorothy Pitts Olson; five grandchildren and a great-grand son; and four step-children, Lynda Reeves Hester (Reb) of Clayton, Ga, Kathy Reeves Hubert (Ben) of Atlanta, Ga., Scott Reeves (Michelle) and Jeff Reeves (Betsy), both of McDonough, Ga., 11 step grandchildren, and 1 step great-grandson.
Services were held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic church. Burial followed at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park. Because Kitty and Doc made their home in McDonough for 25 years, friends and family are invited to gather for a memorial service in McDonough at the United Methodist Church where Doc Reeves has been a member for over 60 years. The service will be held on Saturday, March 28, at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.
G. W. Evans
G.W. (Junior) Evans, age 81, of Stockbridge, GA died Sunday, March 8, 2015. He was born in Stockbridge, GA to the late George Washington and Jessie Bell Puckett Evans. Junior was a member of the Stockbridge Masonic Lodge and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Evans also served for 30 years as a City Council Member of Stockbridge.
Junior is survived by his loving wife, Mavis Evans, Stockbridge, GA; children, Fred Evans, Stockbridge, GA, Ray Evans, Brentwood, TN, Debra Corley, Stockbridge, GA, Linda Vernon, Cartersville, GA, James McDonald, Cartersville, GA; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors with Pastor Joe Kerbow, officiating. Interment followed at Stockbridge City Cemetery.
