Independent Living Resident Showcase June 27

  The Palms at Lake Spivey invite the community to their Independent Living Resident Showcase on June 27 from 3 until 5 p.m. View their residents’ inspiring talents, enjoy cocktails, and hors d’oeuvres. Also on Tuesday, July 1 from 2 until 4 p.m. they will have an Ice Cream Social and Open House. This event is open to the public. The Palms at Lake Spivey is located at 8080 Summit Business Parkway in Lake Spivey.

 

Bible Institute Open House July 19

  Pneuma Bible Institute invites the community to their open house Saturday, July 19 from  2 until 4 p.m. Come meet the administration and teaching staff of Henry County’s newest educational institute.  The Institute will be offering Ministerial and Christian Education classes beginning August 18. Pneuma Bible Institute is located at 45 Parkland Drive in Stockbridge. Call their office at 404-916-1572.

 

Alzheimer Support Group

  Laurel Park Nursing and Rehab has partnered with Dogwood Forest Assisted Living to hold an Alzheimer’s Support Group.  The group will hold its first meeting on Tuesday June 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Laurel Park.  They are located at 1050 Hospital Drive in Stockbridge. An Evening with Richie McDonald

  The community is invited to An Evening with Richie McDonald (Lead singer of Lonestar) on Tuesday, September 9 at 7 p.m. at the Henry County Performing Arts Center. Special Guest is Madelyn Patterson, top 48 contestant on American Idol 2014. Tickets are $20 each and may be purchased online at www.eventbrite.com or at Firehouse Subs in McDonough, Stockbridge and Griffin. They are also available at the Jackson Drug Company in Jackson. NAMI Meeting

 National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) meetings are held at Jodeco Road United Methodist Church every Thursday night from 7 - 8:30 p.m. sharp. There are two meetings; one for consumers and one for families. Coffee and water are served. The church is located at 1500 Jodeco Road in Stockbridge. Griefshare

  Henry Baptist Church has Griefshare each Sunday from 3 until 5 p.m. It is a special weekly seminar and support group for people who are grieving the death of someone close to them.  Their Griefshare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help.  You will gain access to valuable Griefshare resources to help you recover from  your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.  The church is located at 4035 Jodeco Road, McDonough.

 

Stockbridge High Multi-Year Reunion

  The Stockbridge High School multi-year reunion for classes 1966 through 1982 will be held  October 18 at the Atlanta Airport  Marriott Hotel in College Park. The  price is $70 per person until September 1. The cost is $80 cash at door. For more info call Keith Craddock at 678-618-1607.

 

Toastmasters meeting

  If you have a fear of public speaking or would simply like to become a better speaker, Henry County Toastmasters can help. The group meets on the first and third Thursdays of each month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Henry Medical Center Education Building (in the Boardroom), 1133 Eagles Landing Parkway, Stockbridge.
